The Role
As our Manager of the Works unit, you will lead the team that plays a key role in the presentation of the City by contributing to the safe and efficient management of assets valued in excess of $3 billion.
The team is responsible for delivering civil infrastructure projects on various assets including roads, bridges, drains and footpaths (maintenance, renewal and new).
The unit is also responsible for the mechanical workshop which manages the City's plant and equipment, including fleet vehicles and depot plant.
The unit employs approximately 85 staff and has an annual operational budget of $18m and capital works budget of $20m.
With a continuous improvements focus, you will ensure the operational and financial performance of the unit, oversee asset management and contract management, undertake policy and strategy development and build and maintain strong relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
As a member of our senior leadership team, you will play a key role in the unit and City achieving its objectives and priorities.
The role is primarily based at our Adam Street Depot in Golden Square but will travel to other offices and sites.
About You
To be successful in this busy and varied role you will be a positive leader with the ability to mentor and support staff to create a cohesive, multi-skilled and high performing team.
You will be able to establish and manage strategic, productive relationships, and have extensive experience in leading and delivering projects, programs and operations to achieve strong outcomes.
You will also have a customer service focus, high level communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with strong financial management experience.
Relevant qualifications are required, as well as a satisfactory Police Records Check and employee Working with Children Check.
