Senior Mainframe Opportunities (3 Roles) 6-Month Initial Contract | Hybrid | Melbourne | Remote Big 4 Consultancy | Leading Banking Client We are currently partnering with a Big 4 consultancy supporting a leading banking client to hire multiple Senior Mainframe professionals across system programming, database, and network domains. These are initial 6-month contract roles with hybrid working arrangements, working within a large-scale, enterprise banking environment. This role will consider candidate for working remotely. Role 1: Senior Mainframe System Programmer (z/OS) Focus: Core platform / system-level support Key Responsibilities: Support and maintain z/OS environments Perform software installation, upgrades, and patching (SMP/E) Ensure system performance, availability, and security Troubleshoot production issues and support BAU operations Provide technical leadership and mentoring Key Skills: Strong z/OS system programming experience Experience with SMP/E, IBM & BMC utilities Strong troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement skills Role 2: Mainframe Engineer (IMS / Database Focus) Focus: Database performance and optimisation Key Responsibilities: Manage and support IMS databases (Full Function & Fast Path) Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and recovery Work closely with application teams to optimise database usage Ensure high availability and system stability Key Skills: Strong IMS database administration experience Experience in performance tuning and optimisation Solid understanding of z/OS environments Role 3: Mainframe Network Engineer Focus: Mainframe connectivity and networking Key Responsibilities: Support and manage TCP/IP across LPARs Configure and maintain VTAM, VIPA, DVIPA Manage secure network configurations (IPSec, AT-TLS) Troubleshoot cross-platform connectivity issues Key Skills: Strong mainframe networking experience (VTAM, TCP/IP) Experience with network security and encryption protocols Knowledge of z/OS networking tools About You Experience working in enterprise or banking environments Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Ability to work in complex, high-availability systems Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills If you meet these requirements, please apply now or for a confidential discussion please call Athena Yung on 0491451213 or reach out athena.yung@persolapac.com Who we are At PERSOL, we connect people to meaningful work and growth.
