Goldfields Machining is a well-established engineering workshop based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, proudly supporting the mining industry since 2008. We specialise in the manufacture, repair and overhaul of drill rig components, using modern CNC and manual machining equipment in a well-equipped workshop.
We are currently looking for a motivated Fitter / Machinist Apprentice to join our team and begin a rewarding career in the engineering and machining trade.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from experienced tradespeople while gaining practical workshop experience working on real mining equipment and components. This role is ideal for school leavers, mechanically minded candidates or anyone looking to start a hands-on engineering trade.
What you'll learn
During your apprenticeship you will gain hands-on experience in:
Manual machining (lathes, mills and workshop equipment)
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Precision measuring and machining to tight tolerances
Repair and overhaul of drill rig and mining components
General fitting and machining workshop skills
You will work alongside skilled machinists and tradespeople while completing your Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting & Machining).

Keen to start a career in engineering or machining

Mechanically minded with good problem-solving skills
Willing to learn and take direction
Able to work in a team environment
This role will suit someone who enjoys welding or metal fabrication, using tools or building things, has mechanical or engineering hobbies.
