About the Role
The Safety, Health and Environment Manager plays a crucial role in driving excellence in these areas across our site. This includes developing and implementing local strategies for compliance and ensuring consistent execution of BC Standards. The SHE Manager also leads incident management and drives programs to reduce safety incidents and environmental impacts.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Design, maintain, and lead implementation of local health, safety, security, and environmental management systems.
* Lead SHE incident management and drive relevant programs and actions.
* Conduct SHE meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance and performance.
* Provide guidance on health, safety, and security matters and ensure site compliance.
* Collaborate with management to develop Emergency Action Plans and manage SHE incident notification.
* Integrate occupational health and safety imperatives with business decision-making.
* Advise on engineering and maintenance practices to improve safe systems of working.
* Drive positive SHE culture through various initiatives, including Gemba safety talks and training.
* Ensure regular auditing, risk assessment, and improvement of SHE compliance.
* Monitor and measure SHE variables using the SHE Scorecard.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A degree in Workplace Safety, Science, or Engineering, or equivalent academic level.
* Good knowledge of Australian and State occupational safety laws, regulations, and codes of practice.
* Internal auditor or ISO auditor qualification is a plus.
* Experience with Lean/TPM tools and ways of working is beneficial.
* Demonstrated understanding of relevant standards such as ISO 14001; ISO 45001 or OSHSAS 18001.
* Strong experience in managing Safety, Health, and Environment practices in a factory-based role.
* Excellent coaching, training, and influencing skills.
* Resilience and ability to make difficult decisions.
* Transversal leadership and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data into action.
