The Contracts Specialist will support the Contracts Superintendent with strategic sourcing, category, and contract management. The role is responsible for assisting in outcomes that reduce the total cost of our operations and improve costs for our capital projects while mitigating commercial risks.
You will apply exceptional commercial and contract acumen and drive the source-to-contract lifecycle process (planning, strategy, market optimisation, contract execution, and contract management ) to achieve the best business and operational outcomes.
You will employ a business partnering and highly collaborative approach when working across the business with multidisciplinary stakeholders.
This is a permanent role with a 5/2, 4/3 roster, alternating weekly between working in the Townsville office and onsite.
Key responsibilities
* Assist in managing the entire source-to-contract lifecycle in collaboration with key stakeholders.
* Liaise across the business to determine scope of requirements.
* Utilise market intelligence to identify opportunities and solutions considering TCO objectives.
* Undertake risk assessments and ensure mitigation strategies are identified and implemented to minimise supply and commercial risks.
* Manage market engagement lifecycle including preparing, issuing, receiving tenders, negotiating, and drafting contractual outcomes.
* Conduct contract management activities including kick-off meetings, periodic performance reviews, and contract reviews in consultation with stakeholders.
* Participate in continuous improvement sessions to develop the function.
* Contribute to overall departmental strategic planning.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and contractors.
* Influence contractors to improve controls and mitigate risks.
* Contribute to periodic reporting as required.
* Influence contracts to improve controls, mitigate risks, and ensure ongoing benefits.
* Oversee the maintenance, enhancement, and development of systems and processes to ensure optimal procurement and warehousing practices.
About you
* A bachelor's degree in legal, commerce, or a business-related field is essential.
* Extensive experience (2+ years) delivering strategic sourcing and category management initiatives.
* Professional accreditation (CIPSA, ASCI) is desired or you are working towards it.
* Excellent commercial, procurement, contract management, and supply chain skills.
* Proven experience in delivering cost savings and operational improvements.
* Strong cost modelling abilities.
* Experience with BI tools and SAP ERP is desired.
* Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
