About the Role:
Join SA Health's Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Social Worker in our Casual Pool for 2026-2027 with potential to move to contracted hours of work. Based at Lyell McEwin and Modbury Public Hospitals, you will provide essential social work 7-day rostered services across various clinical departments, supporting patients and families during challenging times, including Domestic, Family Violence, Child Protection, Elder Abuse, High Risk Pregnancy assessments. This casual position offers flexibility while contributing to South Australia's premier public health system.
What You'll Do
* Conduct brief crisis comprehensive psychosocial assessments and develop intervention plans
* Write professional reports and discharge plans
* Provide brief crisis counselling and support services to patients and their families
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic timely safe patient care
* Facilitate discharge planning and community service referrals
* Maintain accurate documentation and case records
What We're Looking For
* Experience in healthcare or hospital settings preferred
* Strong critical thinking and problem solving, clear communication, writing and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work under instruction but also independently and manage competing priorities
* Be willing to follow infection control procedures including being Bare Below the Elbows on the hospital wards.
To be eligible for this position, you must hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.
