Our game changing Southern Cross Model brings a deeper, focused learning experience and our research is deeply connected to our regions, making a difference on a global scale. This is your chance to help us build something new and meaningful for our students, our communities and your career. To drive change, make a real impact, and thrive in a place as unique as you.

You can be good anywhere. Here, you can be great.

Your opportunity

Southern Cross University is on an ambitious journey to redefine how technology empowers learning, research and community impact. We're building a future-ready technology organisation—modern, secure, adaptable and driven by innovation. Our teams are embracing emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to deliver smarter, more seamless services and to create meaningful benefits for students, staff and the wider community.

We are seeking a Platform Engineer (Network & WiFi) to join our Level 3 engineering team, based at our Lismore campus. The team consists of five technical engineers, including one Technical Lead, all reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure Platforms, within Technology Platforms.

This role sits at the heart of our enterprise network environment. You will support and enhance large‐scale switching and wireless infrastructure across multiple campuses, working across telephony/voice, wireless, security, monitoring and modern network technologies. It's a hands‐on engineering role offering both autonomous ownership of tasks and collaborative project work with internal teams and external vendors.

If you are ready to step beyond first‐line support and take responsibility for enterprise network engineering in a modern environment, this is your opportunity.

You will make an impact by:

* Administering, provisioning and troubleshooting enterprise network switching, firewalling and WiFi infrastructure across a multi‐campus environment
* Supporting secure, reliable and high‐performing network services aligned to current network security standards
* Providing Level 3 technical support, resolving escalations and contributing to major incident response and structured change management
* Collaborating with internal stakeholders, application teams and external vendors to deliver resilient and scalable network solutions
* Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including network optimization, monitoring enhancements and infrastructure modernisation
What you will bring

You are currently working as a Network Engineer in a mid‐to‐large enterprise environment, balancing day‐to‐day network administration with project‐based improvement work. You are technically capable, service‐focused and comfortable operating with autonomy and accountability.

To succeed in this role, you will also need:

* Strong hands‐on experience in network switching and WiFi administration, including provisioning, configuration and troubleshooting
* Clear understanding of contemporary network security standards and their application within enterprise infrastructure
* Proven ability to provide customer‐focused technical network support while communicating effectively with vendors, stakeholders and end users
* Experience working within complex, multi‐site network environments and managing competing priorities
* Relevant qualifications in Information Technology and / or industry certifications such as CCNA or CCNP or equivalent demonstrated experience
* Exposure to enterprise network design, routing protocols and modern security technologies such as Next‐Generation Firewalls (NGFW), Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), load balancers and network monitoring platforms will also be viewed favourably.

Join a collaborative team supporting a true enterprise network environment, where you can apply your expertise, broaden your technical exposure and play a key role in delivering secure, modern and resilient infrastructure.
