Key duties of the position include:
The Data, Evaluation and Behavioural Insights Branch aims to improve decision-making and policy development through data and behavioural insights. We are a collaborative team passionate about tackling important problems with creative solutions, drawing from diverse backgrounds such as economics, law, design, security, evaluation, data science, and behavioural science.
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Data Scientist to lead AI and business intelligence initiatives. The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams, translating complex data into insights to inform decisions and reforms.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and deliver AI and BI projects using LLMs, GenAI, OCR, and predictive modelling.
* Develop and maintain dashboards and data products using Python, SQL, and Power BI.
* Contribute to AI governance and responsible use frameworks.
* Translate business challenges into AI solutions through stakeholder engagement.
* Mentor junior staff and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
How you can help us make a difference:
* Proficiency in Python, including relevant libraries.
* Experience with LLM inference, prompt engineering, and deploying GenAI models.
* Strong SQL skills and experience with data products in Power BI or similar tools.
* Ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
* Ability to translate complex concepts into actionable insights.
Desirable qualifications:
* Qualifications in mathematics, data science, computer science, AI/ML, or related fields.
* Experience leading AI projects in government or complex environments.
* Understanding of AI ethics, bias, and risk frameworks.
* Experience with DevOps/MLOps and cloud platforms.
