South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) delivers quality, safe and effective hospital and health services within a catchment area across the southern half of Perth. Rockingham Peel Group is part of SMHS and includes Rockingham General Hospital and Murray District Hospital, with broader services across Peel, Rockingham and Kwinana.
Role purpose
We are seeking a Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead and manage the Emergency Department nursing team, delivering evidence-based care to achieve optimal patient outcomes within allocated resources. The NUM maintains and improves clinical standards, develops effective solutions, and delivers results aligned with service and organisational goals. The NUM provides expert consultation and liaison services to internal and external stakeholders within the area of clinical expertise.
Responsibilities
The NUM will:
* Lead and manage the ED nursing team to deliver patient-centred care.
* Maintain and improve clinical standards and quality indicators.
* Operate within allocated budget and resource constraints.
* Provide expert consultation and liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, the NUM ensures the department meets patient-centred care expectations and performs against quality, budget and workforce indicators.
Requirements and qualifications
Qualifications and experience relevant to nurse unit management in an ED setting. Applicants must meet eligibility for appointment and hold appropriate registrations as required by WA Health policies. This role may require relevant criminal records screening, integrity checks, and other pre-employment checks as part of the appointment process.
