About the Opportunity

Glenelg Shire Council is seeking a passionate and community-focused Recreation Officer to join our team and help shape active, healthy and connected communities across the Shire.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to contribute to the planning, development and delivery of recreation programs, facilities and initiatives that enhance the wellbeing and lifestyle of our community.

This position is offered on a fixed term full time capacity until March 2027 as it is linked to parental leave backfill.

What you need to Succeed

To succeed in this role, you will have:

* Experience or qualifications in recreation, sport management, community development or a related field.
* Experience working with sporting clubs, volunteers or community groups (local government experience desirable).
* Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
* Demonstrated ability to coordinate programs, manage priorities and meet deadlines.
* Sound written and verbal communication skills, including reporting and record-keeping.
* An understanding of club governance, risk management and inclusive participation principles.

A current driver's licence and relevant Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain) are required.
