Clinical Nurse - Public Health (Syphilis)

Location: Kalgoorlie

Unit/Division: WACHS - Goldfields > Regional Public Health

We are seeking a dedicated and skilledClinical Nurse to join our team at the Western Australian CountryHealth Service. Collaborating closely with the Senior RegisteredNurse and the public health team, you will play a crucial role inthe provision of disease control and immunisation programs acrossthe region, with a particular focus on syphilis response. Yourexpertise will ensure timely case follow-ups, effective contacttracing, and thorough outbreak investigations in conjunction withrelevant health agencies and key stakeholders.

This is a full time – fixed termcontract until 30/06/2026 with the possibility of extension(s)and/or permanency.

KeyResponsibilities:

* Work alongside the publichealth team and external agencies in the case management,documentation, and follow-up of clients with notifiablediseases.
* Engage invaccine-preventable disease control programs, overseeingplanning, surveillance, and timely follow-up of diseasenotifications.
* Provide clinicalsupervision to Level 1 nurses and enrolled nurses, serving as arole model in patient care.
* Assist in the developmentand delivery of training on communicable diseases andimmunisation, supporting community and serviceproviders.
* Contribute to thedevelopment and evaluation of protocols and guidelines thatenhance service provision in line with public healthpolicies.
* Participate inepidemiological surveys and assist in ongoing research andprogramme evaluations.

IdealCandidate:

* Proven knowledge ofprimary health care practices, particularly in disease controlprinciples.
* Experience in planningand delivering community-based educational and preventativeprogrammes.
* An understanding ofcultural factors and social determinants impacting health,especially in Aboriginal Health.
* Strong written and verbalcommunication skills with proficiency in negotiation,facilitation, and computer-based methods.
* Ability to workcollaboratively with a range of stakeholders and demonstrate acommitment to lifelong learning.
* Flexibility andadaptability to changing public health needs andpriorities.

This position is located in Kalgoorlie.Kalgoorlie is Australia’s largest Outback city wheremining, history and bushland combine, located 595 km east-northeastof Perth.

Country Nursing and MidwiferyIncentive Program

The Country Nursing & Midwiferyincentive program is available to new and existing nurses andmidwives - across a broad range of patient-facing roles - on fixedterm or permanent contracts at eligible locations. Eligible nursesand midwives can receive between $5,000 and $17,000 in support over12 months.
