About the Business
Our Closing the Gap Policy and Transformation team provides strategic policy advice and drives the transformational change required to implement the National Agreement on Closing the Gap within DHS and ultimately improve life outcomes for Aboriginal peoples, their families and communities.
Role Details
The Senior Policy and Project Officer is a role within Community and Aboriginal Partnerships and is accountable to the Director, Closing the Gap Policy and Transformation for:
- Assisting with embedding the four Closing the Gap Priority Reforms and building staff capability to deliver
actions to improve the socio-economic outcomes.
- Contributing to policy development, including provision of policy advice drawn from knowledge and living
experience of Aboriginal culture and Aboriginal communities.
- Contributing to the coordination and development of cross-department and interagency policy, with
particular emphasis on the intersection between policy and Aboriginal people and communities
- Developing and providing policy analysis and advice to assist with the development and implementation of
Closing the Gap initiatives.
- Support partnering with directorates across the department to assist with monitoring and reporting on
Closing the Gap progress to maximise efforts and reduce departmental duplication of effort.
- Building key working relationships across Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal Community-Controlled
Organisations and government and non-government stakeholders.
