General Practitioner at Serco – ADF Health Services
As a civilian General Practitioner working with the Australian Defence Force, you will provide essential medical care and support to ADF Members. This role is part of Serco’s ADF Health Services team.
Responsibilities
* You will be responsible for delivery of primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation, and Defence Policies and Procedures.
* You will form part of a multidisciplinary team working toward the shared purpose of achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members.
* You will play an integral role in assessing Defence personnel for fitness for duty and in the provision of care that will support the health and welling of members pre and post deployments.
* You will be required to provide medical technical advice to the Joint Health Unit (JHU) Commanding Officer (CO), Joint Health Command (JHC) Health Centre Manager and Commanders of units.
* You will be supported by a Team of Senior Medical Officers and uniformed colleagues.
* You may be required to provide the services in either an outpatient setting or inpatient care setting within a ward.
About ADF Health Services
In partnership with Bupa, our ADF Health Services team provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia.
About ACT Health Centre
ACT houses Department of Defence Headquarters, Airforce Headquarters and Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) which is a tri-service military academy. The ACT Health Centre opened mid-2021 and is a large facility. It services approximately 7000 military personnel, including trainee officers from both ADFA and Royal Military College. There is a 24-bed low dependency ward which operates 24/7. Services provided include primary medical, aviation & underwater medical, nursing, dental, mental health, pharmaceutical and physiotherapy. Defence Force Recruitment for medical officers is in addition to health centre roles. Standard hours of operation are generally 0700-1630 Monday to Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts). In this role you will be working 4pm-8pm Tuesday & Thursday.

To be successful in this role you’ll have
* The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
* Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) OR, Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) OR Vocational Registration.
* Minimum of 2 years full-time post graduate general practitioner experience in a general practice setting within the last 5 years (or part-time equivalent).
* Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.
* Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.

* You must be an Australian Citizen to obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance for this role.
* You don’t need to be enlisted in the Defence Force to work as a civilian on-base and your job stays here, even if the Defence personnel you care for are deployed.
