APRA is looking for a private health insurance actuary/analyst to join the Insurance and Actuarial team.
The team provides specialist risk and actuarial expertise on insurance risk, capital risk and a range of technical and industry matters. The team works closely with APRA's Supervision teams to ensure that ensure Australians' financial interests are protected and that the financial system is stable, competitive and efficient.
This role provides a unique opportunity to shape the practices and outcomes of private health insurers. You will collaborate with a range of industry stakeholders, including industry executives on addressing challenges of the sector. As well as be involved in the developing APRA policies and strategies.
Working alongside other specialists, this role has responsibility for:
- Identifying key industry and insurer risks
- Assessing insurer practices and recommending improvements, including undertaking off-site and on-site reviews
- Contributing to the development of prudential standards and guidelines
- Engaging with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders to develop and deliver quality insurance and actuarial advice.
To be successful in this role you will have highly developed technical expertise, preferably in private health or general insurance. You will have substantial organisational, self and priority management skills. The role also requires you to demonstrate well-developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
