Where You'll Be Working

Manning Base Hospital supports the thriving communities of Taree, Forster, Tuncurry, and nearby districts. Set in a picturesque region surrounded by rivers, beaches, and rolling green hills, our hospital offers not only a fulfilling career but also an enviable lifestyle - complete with affordable living and a warm, inclusive community.
About The Role
As a senior social worker, you'll manage a clinical caseload of patients with complex needs, delivering high-quality care through psychosocial assessments, counselling for adjustment to illness, grief and loss, crisis and bereavement support, as well as community referrals and discharge planning. You'll provide essential support to individuals navigating their cancer journey - advocating for their needs, guiding them through the healthcare system, and ensuring continuity of care beyond discharge.
You'll be part of a collaborative, patient-centred team, where social work plays a key role in multidisciplinary care. With a thorough orientation, regular clinical supervision, and strong peer support, you'll be well-positioned to succeed and make a meaningful impact.
About You
We're looking for a passionate and empathetic social worker who thrives in a collaborative, patient-centred environment. You build strong connections with patients, families, and colleagues, and approach challenges with creativity, compassion, and professionalism. Whether working independently or as part of a team, you bring a commitment to high-quality care and advocate for the best possible outcomes for those you support.
You're eager to grow your clinical experience and strengthen your therapeutic skills. While experience in oncology or hospital settings is valued, it's not essential - comprehensive training and ongoing support will set you up for success. Flexibility, excellent communication, and strong time management skills are key, as you'll contribute across various areas of the Oncology service when needed.
