Our programs include the ANZAC and Hunter Class frigates and air defence applications for Army and Air Force, and Range applications. Through our longstanding and ongoing collaboration with Defence, CEA Technologies has undertaken research and development into all aspects of active electronically scanned array technologies. This has resulted in the creation of a highly modular and scalable product suite, which have become integral to a wide range of critical Defence capabilities.

The Position

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic UX Designer to take the lead on CEA's internal custom software.

As the UX Designer you will take ownership of the entire UX Design process for internal custom developed web applications. The UX Designer will determine the requirements and issues of staff interaction with custom developed systems and create and maintain a coherent user interface design.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about creating a useable and enjoyable user interfaces to support the needs of a growing organisation.

Key Responsibilities:


• Working with and contributing to the Business Software Development Team's objectives.


• Evaluation & reporting of user experience(s) with CEA custom and off-the-shelf applications.


• Aid the Business Software Development Team by:

o Gathering insights into user needs via observation, interviews, or other appropriate means.

o Creating designs and design elements for the web.

o Providing advice to implementers and management based on user research and proven industry methodologies.


• Harmonising sometimes conflicting requirements from different users.

Our Ideal Candidate:


• Passionate about user experience and workflow optimisation.


• 5+ years of UX experience in the private or public sector. Defence experience is highly desired.


• Proven ability to design for a technical audience is highly desired.


• Proven ability to deliver outputs in an iterative fashion.


• Proven ability to design for the web.


• Keeps abreast of user-centric trends in industry and technology.


• Strong abilities in analysis and critical thinking.


• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with a technical and non-technical audience.


• Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to participate within and contribute to a small team environment.

Eligibility


• An Australian Citizen;


• Eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA clearance – Baseline
