About Us The Grove Bar and Bistro, nestled within the picturesque Hidden Valley Resort in Wallan, is a vibrant hospitality destination known for its relaxed dining, scenic views, and outstanding customer service. With a growing reputation among locals and resort guests, we host everything from casual lunches and dining to weddings, corporate events, and themed functions and events.
We are seeking a dynamic, hands‑on Assistant Restaurant Manager to lead and support our front‑of‑house team, ensuring every guest enjoys a warm, professional, and memorable experience.
About the Role Reporting directly to the Manager, you will supervise day‑to‑day service across our bar, bistro, and events, ensuring smooth and high‑quality service delivery. You will play a key role in coordinating team operations, maintaining high standards, and supporting the continuous development of our hospitality offering.
In this leadership role, you'll work side‑by‑side with your team, guiding them through busy shifts, resolving issues calmly, and helping to deliver seamless service across a variety of dining and event formats.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee daily FOH operations, including restaurant and bar service
* Supervise, coach, and motivate staff to maintain service excellence
* Assist in rostering, stock management, and shift reporting
* Ensure customer feedback is responded to promptly and constructively
* Support events and functions from setup to pack‑down and coordinate with Events Manager
* Experience across a range of POS (we use Square) and reservations systems
* Lead by example with a focus on professionalism, teamwork, and attention to detail
* Strong bar skills, with experience in drink preparation and service; Coffee Making would be a bonus
* Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations
We're Looking for Someone Who:
* Has previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role within hospitality
* Has excellent communication and people management skills
* Is passionate about creating outstanding guest experiences
* Can work across breakfast, lunch, dinner, and function shifts, including weekends
* Brings a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset
* Has solid knowledge of food, beverage, and bar operations
* Holds a current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification
