Allseas Marine Contractors Australia (Allseas) is a leading marine contractor known for its pioneering in the field of marine construction and installation. In Australia we focus on the installation of subsea infrastructure (e.g. pipelines) for the Energy Sector and installation and removal of abandoned offshore platforms and subsea infrastructure for the major operators. For our current projects we are looking to expand our team that looks after fabrication of major steel components that help with the execution of the above-mentioned works. Job objectives
The Construction Manager is responsible for the safe, effective and efficient execution of an Allseas construction project, including engineering review, supervision of suppliers and team members, fabrication, vessel integration and commissioning and testing.
Reporting lines
The Construction Manager reports directly to the General Manager. While working on specific projects, he/she will also report to the respective (Senior) Project Manager or another Construction Manager.
General responsibilities
* Conduct all activities and tasks in accordance with Allseas' corporate objectives;
* Become familiarised with and comply with Allseas' management system;
* Support and actively participate in the continuous improvement of Allseas' management system within the scope of the job and promote and support continuous improvement initiatives within the department;
* Understand and support the implementation of Allseas' corporate policies and requirements of the management system within the department and make time to capture lessons and close out actions properly;
* Promote a safe and healthy working environment for Allseas employees and contractors working within all Allseas premises and on vessels and ensure designs and installation methods are robust for safe execution;
* Submit personal timesheets into the time registration system for approval on a weekly basis;
* Ensure all personal documentation is up-to-date and valid, such as passport, seaman's booklet, vaccinations, and medical and offshore survival certificates.
Job specific tasks
* Prepare an AFE (approval for expenditure) for the project, including cost, estimated man hours and schedule;
* Lead a team of (site) engineers, draftsmen, planning and cost controllers and other relevant disciplines in the project;
* Direct and manage construction and commissioning activities, often preceded by (the final phase of) detailed engineering (Construction Manager only).;
* Manage contractors and subcontractors to maximise performance;
* Check and monitor the quality of fabricated goods, parts and materials;
* Ensure proper quality and timely (final) documentation from parties - internal and external - involved;
* Implement manufacturing cost reductions and continuous improvement activities;
* Monitor effective and efficient execution of construction and commissioning works;
* Support and advise Project Managers in successful execution of projects;
* Provide input to, and assist to evaluate tenders on construction and commissioning aspects;
* Assist in commercial projects construction activities, such as site representation at large fabrication yards or platform preparations for decommissioning;
* Prepare lessons learnt for implementation on new projects;
* Ownership of scope of work, schedule and budget of each subcontract under management. Monitor and report progress, issue reports to relevant parties and elevate if needed;
* Advise and manage the proper level of classification of the product;
* Timely delivery of engineering deliverables in line with fabrication or supplier agreed schedule;
* Active management of engineering queries back and forth to suppliers to ensure proper cost, quality and risk involved with change;
* Manage and implement Industry and Project specific Codes, Standards and Procedures with contractors and subcontractors;
* Conduct yearly appraisals of direct reports in the project (Construction Manager only).
Authorities
* Acts on behalf of the (Senior) Project Manager or another Construction Manager when authorised;
* Have access to all information needed for a proper execution of the work;
* Budget owner of the approved AFE amount.
Education and training
* BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Shipbuilding or Offshore Technology.
Experience Construction Manager
* Minimum 8 to 10 years' construction management experience, preferably in the offshore or related industry;
* Extensive experience of working within an ISO 9001 quality management environment;
* Familiarity with industry standard codes such as AWS, NEN-ISO.

Other requirements
