Location: Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre
Employment status: Temporary (15 months) Full-time
Classification: Municipal Officer Level 2
Agreement: Hobart City Council Enterprise Agreement 2024
Salary range: $74,667 to $76,699 per annum + 13.5% superannuation.

About the role

The role contributes to the City by ensuring the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre café delivers a consistently high‑quality food and beverage experience that enhances every visitor’s time at the facility. Through strong leadership, smart operational management, and a commitment to safety and service excellence, the Senior Café Coordinator supports a vibrant community space, strengthens the Centre’s reputation, and helps drive positive financial and customer outcomes for the City.

* Oversee daily café operations, including service quality, staff supervision, and efficient rostering.
* Manage stock levels, menu offerings, and cost control to meet operational and budget targets.
* Maintain a high standard of café cleanliness, food safety, and WHS compliance, ensuring safe operating procedures are followed.
* Monitor equipment and supplier performance, addressing maintenance or service issues promptly.
* Provide clear leadership to café staff, supporting consistent service delivery and continuous improvement.
* Analyse sales and stock data to guide business decisions, contribute to budget planning, and identify opportunities to enhance café presentation and offerings.

As a leader, they will be passionate about motivating a team, bringing out their best, and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for customers. The role requires someone who is passionate about food safety, strives to provide high quality food options and is always looking to continuously improve their ways of working. The team is looking for someone who looks for smarter ways to work and has fresh ideas to elevate the café experience.
