About the Role
The HR Advisor reports to the Head of Human Resources and supports the People Management Functional Area, overseeing day‐to‐day people management processes such as recruitment, onboarding, employee support and policy application.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the first point of contact for managers and employees, providing timely, practical guidance on general people management, policy interpretation, and workplace enquiries while ensuring strict alignment with legislative requirements and escalating complex matters.
* Support hiring managers through the full recruitment lifecycle, including position description preparation, advertising, interview coordination, and selection assessment, utilising inclusive practices to foster a fair and accessible workplace.
* Coordinate a high‐quality, welcoming, and consistent onboarding journey for new starters that embeds Brisbane 2032 values, leveraging technology to automate workflows, track status, and ensure accurate reporting.
* Assist leaders with performance processes (probation, goal setting, development) and guide the resolution of low‐risk grievances, conduct, and performance matters, ensuring fair, well‐documented, and timely outcomes.
* Coordinate internal EOI processes and career progression enquiries, while supporting the seamless delivery of key HR cycles, including employee surveys, remuneration reviews, and engagement initiatives.
* Maintain accurate, up‐to‐date employee records within HR systems and collaborate closely with the payroll team to ensure the seamless, timely transfer of required workforce data.
* Contribute to the review, design, and continuous improvement of HR procedures, templates, and tools, actively identifying opportunities for automation to keep processes practical and fit for purpose.
* Support WHS compliance and a proactive culture of wellbeing by reviewing incident reports, administering WorkCover matters, and ensuring all operations adhere to strict safety policies.
* Build strong internal relationships to champion a respectful, high‐performing workplace, consistently demonstrating Brisbane 2032 values while upholding the highest standards of governance, ethics, and transparency.
Skills and Experience
* Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering change management, communication and engagement strategies within a large‐scale project/program environment.
* High‐level knowledge of contemporary and best‐practice change management frameworks and methodologies.
* Understanding of project management elements, including contemporary change management and business integration processes and strategies, ideally within a human services environment.
* Experience in understanding and analysing operating processes and systems in a complex, multi‐site organisation, and in an industrially sensitive environment.
* Experience delivering transformation initiatives across a large and complex public sector or corporate organisation.
* High‐level interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and negotiate with and influence others on sensitive and complex issues.
* Proven high‐level written communication skills, with experience drafting a range of materials including formal documents, reports, presentations, and web text.
* Industry‐recognised qualifications or certification in change management is highly regarded but not essential, as are formal qualifications in business, human resource management, or project management.
