The W.P. Holman Clinic, Launceston, provides comprehensive specialist inpatient and outpatient Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Clinical Haematology Services to the Northern Tasmanian community, including state‐wide brachytherapy. The Clinic is situated in the Launceston General Hospital complex and provides direct access to a range of medical, surgical and hospital services required to deliver quality, person‐centred cancer care. The Clinic supports cancer education, research, and offers a supportive, collaborative learning environment that promotes autonomy, professional growth and excellence in cancer nursing care.
The Role: The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides advanced clinical leadership and expert nursing care within the Holman Clinic, working with a high degree of professional autonomy under the general direction of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM). The CNC collaborates closely with the inter‐professional team to support complex patient care and coordination, ensuring high‐quality, patient‐centred outcomes. The role includes leadership in clinical practice, quality improvement, staff development and workplace health and safety, fostering effective relationships with patients, families and colleagues.
Essential Attributes: Clinical Leadership & Expert Care – Provide advanced, authoritative nursing care and leadership in outpatient oncology and haematology, supporting patients with complex needs and ensuring evidence‐based care throughout the treatment journey; Service Coordination & Collaboration – Coordinate day‐to‐day clinical services, enhance continuity of care and build strong links with hospital and community service providers; Quality, Education & Innovation – Drive improvements in standards of care through teaching, research and quality activities, contributing to policy, practice development and safety initiatives.
Essential Criteria:
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
Desirable Criteria:
* Relevant postgraduate qualifications in cancer nursing.
Details of appointment: Permanent, part time, day worker position, working up to 38 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed upon date. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Salary: $118,297 to $125,543 per annum (pro rata). Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. The Employer contributes 12% superannuation on top of this amount. Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type may be available.
