Due to our continued growth and project pipeline, we have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Planner with 2-4 years' of experience to join SLR's national Planning team in Newcastle. This is a full‐time position where you will be working with a supportive team of Planning professionals who are leaders in their field.
Our APAC Planning team is made up of a group of highly skilled planners and project managers with an enthusiastic approach to life and work, who enjoy the exposure to a national project pipeline. In this role you will be working with not only the planning team, but also our highly reputable industry experts who will be on call to mentor, providing opportunities to advance your career.
You'll receive technical development day to day, while also providing the opportunity to be part of a structured career development program. Whether you've recently started your career or are a few years down the track and looking to take the next step in the industry, this accelerative opportunity is the one for you.
You will be provided the opportunity to work independently, from project inception through to approval, on small scale projects as well as being part of larger, multi‐discipline teams working on more complex projects.
Responsibilities
* Assisting with preparing planning reports at both a local and state significant scale,
* Navigate complex approvals pathways under state and federal environmental and planning legislation
* Preparing feasibility reports and due diligence advice, and provide strategic environmental advice on land use and development proposals
* Liaise with stakeholders including clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities
* Attending meetings and liaising with clients, councils, consultants & other government agencies.
Experience
* A university qualification in Town Planning or Environmental Planning
* 2-4 years' experience in town planning or environmental planning, ideally in consulting.
* The ability to analyse and interpret situations and problems to develop appropriate solutions.
* Experience in statutory approvals for industry, extractive industry, or environmental approvals
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and high computer literacy.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, self‐motivation, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
* Strong time management skills,
* Australian citizenship or rights to work in Australia.
