We are seeking a high calibre Senior Security Engineer to act as a technical authority and secure government platforms. You will be the lead architect and hands on expert responsible for designing, implementing, and defending our client's infrastructure. You will be given the autonomy to drive their security strategy, moving them towards a more proactive, intelligent, and resilient posture based on Zero Trust principles. You will be your team's "go-to" expert for everything from SASE and Cloud Security to AI-driven threat detection. Responsibilities: Lead the design and deployment of a comprehensive Zero Trust framework from the ground up. Drive the transition to a SASE and SSE model, securing access for all users, devices, and applications, regardless of location. Serve as the technical lead for threat detection, leveraging the XDR platform and AI Security tools to hunt for advanced threats and automate incident response. Engineer and maintain robust Network Security controls, including advanced firewall policies, micro-segmentation, and NAC. Secure hybrid Cloud Security environments (AWS/Azure), ensuring all workloads are hardened and compliant with government standards. Oversee the Vulnerability Management lifecycle and collaborate with development teams to embed Application Security (AppSec) best practices. About you: This is a senior role, and we are looking for deep, practical expertise. Proven experience designing and implementing modern security architectures, specifically Zero Trust, SASE, and SSE. Hands on experience with XDR platforms (e.g., CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Cortex, Cisco SecureX) and an understanding of how AI Security models enhance threat detection. Expert-level knowledge of Network Security (firewalls, routing, VPNs) and advanced Segmentation (VLANs, micro-segmentation). Demonstrable experience securing public/private cloud environments (AWS, Azure). Strong background in Vulnerability Management and Application Security (AppSec). *Due to the nature of this work, you MUST hold a current Australian Government NV2 (Negative Vetting 2) security clearance.
