Corporate Planner – Esteemed Local Council
Part‑time (3–4 days/week) | Hybrid (1–2 days WFH) | 6‑month contract

An esteemed and highly respected local council is seeking an experienced Corporate Planner to join their Governance & Corporate Strategy team on a 6‑month part‑time contract. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to strategic planning and organisational performance for a well‑regarded public sector entity known for its commitment to community outcomes and continuous improvement.

Your new role

As the Corporate Planner, you will play a pivotal role in the preparation, monitoring and reporting of the council's key Integrated Planning & Reporting (IP&R) documents, including the Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program, Operational Plan and Annual Report.

You will act as the organisation's Performance Reporting System champion, providing support, guidance and training to staff to ensure timely, accurate and meaningful corporate reporting. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll assist with the development of organisational performance measures, system enhancements and quality assurance processes.

Key responsibilities include:

Maintaining and enhancing the council's performance planning software and system processes
Leading user training, documentation development and support for quarterly progress reporting
Preparing and refining performance reports for senior management and councillors
Assisting with the development and submission of core IP&R documents
Supporting workshops with senior management on strategic and operational planning
Ensuring compliance with statutory reporting and contributing to quality assurance initiatives
Liaising with system consultants and internal IT teams to troubleshoot and enhance reporting tools

What you'll need to succeed

Tertiary qualifications in project management, business, planning or a related field
Knowledge of IP&R requirements within a government context (highly regarded)
At least 2 years' experience in corporate planning, organisational performance or related reporting functions or projects
Demonstrated project management capability and experience delivering system or reporting improvements
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively across a diverse organisation and deliver training to staff
Strong time management, stakeholder engagement and problem‑solving skills
