You'll combine hands-on, paid work with structured training and work towards a nationally recognised qualification in your chosen trade.

We are recruiting apprentices across the following Sydney Trains trade disciplines:
Electrical Trades Cable Jointer, Fleet Electrical, Rail Traction, Signal Electrical, Substations, Auto Electrical
Mechanical Trades Fleet Mechanical, Signal Fitter, Heavy Plant (Plant Mechanic)
Technology Systems Telecommunications (Operational Technology)
As our network runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, you may work within a 24-hour rotating roster which may sometimes include early mornings, evenings, and weekends. You may also be required to travel and stay at different locations overnight as our work sites extend across the Sydney Metropolitan area and areas including Hamilton, Lithgow, Wollongong, and Bomaderry/Nowra.

About you
You're a natural problem-solver who listens well, follows instructions carefully and is eager to learn — both hands-on and through formal training. You stay calm in fast-paced environments and understand the importance of safety in everything you do. You take pride in your work, your teamwork, and your commitment to learning a trade to a high standard.
Essential requirements
* You will be 17 years of age or older by 1st January 2027
* Australian/NZ citizen or Australian Permanent Resident
* Available to start full-time in January 2027
* Hold (or be in the process of obtaining) a Class C Driver Licence by January 2027
* Able to travel reliably to depots, field sites and different work locations
* Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces or in outdoor/variable environments
* Willing to work outside regular hours, including nights and weekends
* Basic computer literacy
