We work with at-risk young people in deliberately small campus settings, providing trauma-informed, wrap-around support that empowers them to discover their identity and purpose through a recovery focused education.

Our teachers require heart, energy, wisdom and professionalism, working holistically with young people to support their education, school community engagement and recovery journeys.In addition to secondary trained teachers, those teachers with primary school training are encouraged to apply as the classroom model is reflective of a primary school setting.
Due to growth there will be a number of teacher positions appointed for the coming year and it is possible that appointments may either be in the middle school (Year 7-10) or senior school (Year *****).
Role Purpose & Key Responsibilities The teacher plays a central role in delivering the educational and recovery programs of Alta-1 College.
They deliver curriculum in line with College and regulatory requirements.Provide pastoral care and support to students.Manage student behaviour and ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment.Engage positively with parents and external agencies.Contribute to campus and program development.The role requires professional integrity, effective communication, and a commitment to both student transformation and teaching excellence.
Role Selection Criteria Essential (applicable to all college staff):Commitment to Christian faith, college values and the highest standards of professional conduct.Passionate about supporting at-risk and vulnerable young people towards positive growth and change.Essential (role specific):Demonstrated capacity to deliver curriculum and support diverse learners.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with at-risk young people.Organisational skills, including accurate record-keeping and reporting.Highly desirable:Knowledge of trauma-informed, inclusive education practices.Previous experience working with at-risk and educationally disengaged young people.Required Qualifications:To be registered with the Queensland College of Teachers.Holder of a valid driver license.
