Job Title: Young Women's Academy Mentor
The role of the Program Lead is to support students in improving their school attendance and academic performance, developing career pathways and work-ready skills, and strengthening cultural pride and identity through life skills, personal development, and long-term resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver educational programs in schools, including planning, coordination, and implementation.
* Maintain positive relationships with students, community members, and school staff.
* Mentor and support young First Nation students, aged between 12-18 years, by facilitating workshops, providing in-class tutoring and outside class assistance, and developing personalized learning plans.
* Provide activities focused on life skills, school engagement, and cultural exchange, such as cooking, creative arts, leadership, CV creation, goal setting, and job readiness.
* Organize physical education activities, including traditional games, and a healthy breakfast program for program participants.
* Facilitate community activities, foster opportunities for cultural exchange, and organize after-school and weekend activities and excursions.
* Work collaboratively within schools, sometimes requiring weekend or overnight shifts to run residential programs and camps.
