Your role as a Pathology Courier
As a Pathology Courier, you will be responsible for the picking up and transportation of pathology samples, specimens, blood/blood products, X-rays and vaccines. This could be across medical centres, collection centres, nursing homes, hospitals, and veterinary surgeries for delivery to laboratories in various locations. You will be ensuring a safe and efficient process as you manage 30+ stops per day, playing a crucial part in providing quality health services to the people in our communities.
Responsibilities
Pick up and deliver pathology samples, specimens, blood/blood products, X-rays, vaccines and clinical waste to and from referring customers
Store/stock management for the community
Liaise between referring medical practitioners and the Medical Liaison Officer regarding store orders
Preparation and delivery of reports and stock control in the main laboratory
Maintain patient confidentiality and integrity
Paperwork and correct specimen coding documentation
Compliance with Policies and Procedures, Work Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance processes
About you
Valid open Australian driver's license with an excellent driving record
Ability to work various shifts including rostered weekends and public holidays
Great interpersonal skills you will use to liaise with different stakeholders as well as strong written communication skills
Excellent time management skills, juggling up to 30 stops per day
Physical capability to handle equipment weighing regularly up to 10–15 kg
The ability to follow instructions and use initiative to make sound decisions
Previous courier experience is considered highly advantageous
Hold a Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain one
You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen, or hold a valid visa with permission to work
