The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people's homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).
Our Child and Family Health (CFH) team is seeking a Senior Speech Pathologist supporting the Brighter Beginnings Health and Development Checks in Early Learning Services program. This is a district-wide position that involves regular travel across the district. Child and Family Health Speech Pathology provides services to children under 8 years of age using a primary health care approach, including assessment, intervention, health promotion and education for individuals and groups.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for providing and supporting high-quality services and will play a key leadership role through clinical coordination, consultation and supervision, advocacy, education and support across the CFH Speech Pathology team. The role requires demonstrated skills and experience in working with complex and vulnerable families, including Aboriginal families, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and families experiencing psychosocial vulnerability or trauma, with the ability to support and guide less experienced clinicians. The position also provides support to the CFH Speech Pathology Head of Department in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of clinical pathways, local business rules, procedures and standards to ensure best practice speech pathology services for children and families.

What you will bring to the role
* Degree in Speech Pathology with eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
* Demonstrated extensive and advanced experience in paediatric clinical services, including: Assessment, planning and evaluating Speech Pathology interventions in working with children presenting with difficulties in feeding and/or communication development.
* Demonstrated competent clinical decision making both independently and in a multidisciplinary team regarding service delivery for clients and their families
* Demonstrated high level communication skills both interpersonal and written including ability to work with families from low socioeconomic backgrounds and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
* Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills in an environment of competing clinical and administrative demands. Computer competence and ability to use electronic medical records, word processing and databases.
* Demonstrated experience in clinical coordination and supervision in paediatric speech pathology
* Demonstrated ability to lead, implement and evaluate quality improvement and/or research focused on improving client outcomes
* Current unrestricted drivers' licence and the willingness to use for work purposes.
