About AgriFutures
AgriFutures Australia (AgriFutures) is the trading name for the Rural Industries Research & Development Corporation (RIRDC) and is one of 15 Australian agricultural Research and Development Corporations (RDCs). AgriFutures vision is to grow the long-term prosperity of Australian rural industries. The declared representative organisations of AgriFutures are National Farmers' Federation (NFF) and Australian Chicken Meat Federation (ACMF) and represent industry and levy payer interests.
AgriFutures delivers research, development and extension programs across 13 rural industries, including chicken meat, rice, export fodder, honey bee and pollination, thoroughbred horses, ginger, tea tree oil, pasture seeds, goat fibre, buffalo, kangaroo, deer and ratite, as well as a range of high-potential emerging industries. As a national RDC, AgriFutures invests in research, leadership, innovation and learning to support a resilient, prosperous and future-focused agricultural sector.
The positions
Applications are sought Australia wide for non-executive directors for up to a three year term, commencing in October 2026. Candidates must be able to demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following fields:
* Commodity production, processing and/or marketing
* Scientific research, development, innovation, extension and adoption
* Finance, audit, and risk management
* Strong understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks
* Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues
* Corporate governance, strategy and risk management
* Development and performance monitoring of strategic plans
* Innovation and agrifood technology
* Partnership and commercialisation
* Technology, data, and artificial intelligence
The preferred candidates should have strong communication skills and an understanding of contemporary corporate governance and responsibilities, including board experience.
