About the Role
The Friends' School is seeking an experienced and motivated Facilities & Services Coordinator to join our Administration team. Reporting to the Facilities & Services Manager, this role is pivotal in ensuring the effective of people, systems, and processes to maintain the School's facilities and services to a high standard.
This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in operational excellence, enjoys leading and mentoring teams, and thrives in a hands‑on, service‑oriented environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the safe, efficient and proactive management of the School's facilities, contributing to a positive experience for students, staff, and the broader community.
Key Focus Areas
* Lead, supervise, and mentor the grounds and maintenance teams to ensure high‑quality upkeep of all School facilities and grounds.
* Manage and coordinate external contractors and service providers to ensure quality control, safety compliance, and effective relationship management.
* Oversee budgeting, delivery and reporting of maintenance, minor capital works and improvement projects.
* Ensure full compliance with work health and safety and other legislative requirements, promoting a strong safety culture across the School.
* Develop and monitor service‑level documentation and maintenance systems aligned with School priorities.
* Manage the School's computerised systems for heating management and building access control, including security fob administration.
* Participate in the out‑of‑hours on‑call programme and coordinate responses to security, maintenance and emergency incidents.
* Provide logistical support for School events and activities.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient coordination and communication of facilities‑related activities.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements
* Post Year 12 qualifications in construction, facilities management, project management, or a related discipline.
* Demonstrated experience in facilities management, maintenance operations, and contractor supervision.
* Strong knowledge of work health and safety compliance and best practices.
* Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams to achieve high‑quality outcomes.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage positively with staff, contractors and the wider School community.
* Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment).
* National Police Check (less than six months old).
* First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
