Kokoda Youth Foundation (KYF) is seeking an enthusiastic Casual Marketing Assistant to support the delivery of dynamic marketing activities across our exciting Kokoda Challenge event and KYF youth programs.
In this role, you will help support the Marketing & Communications Manager and Marketing & Communications Coordinator in delivering a range of marketing initiatives across a variety of channels to support engagement and participation across our events and youth programs.
This is a casual role and will suit someone in the final years of studying marketing with some prior experience ready to take the first step in their career, or someone with a background in marketing ready to return to work in an execution role and make an immediate impact!
JOB SUMMARY
The Casual Marketing Assistant role provides general marketing assistance to support the Marketing Manager and Marketing Coordinator with the Kokoda Youth Foundation. This position involves tasks across the Kokoda Challenge and KYF youth programs, contributing to the delivery of marketing activities that support both event registrations, youth program participation as well as general community engagement.
Duties include assisting with basic social media content creation and scheduling using tools including Canva, supporting with the creation of basic short-form reel content, assisting in the preparation and distribution of EDM (email marketing), as well as providing administrative support and completing ad-hoc tasks as needed.
Overall, this role's main job is to help support the delivery of consistent, high quality marketing campaigns and communications across a variety of different channels, as managed by the Marketing & Communications Manager & Coordinator.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assist with creating and scheduling basic social media content via HubSpot to share with our Kokoda Youth Foundation and Kokoda Challenge community
* Assist with community engagement by responding to general comments, messages, or enquiries on social platforms
* Provide general event marketing and administrative support to the marketing team as required and other ad-hoc tasks
* Help create simple marketing design assets using tools like Canva
* Assist in building and formatting EDM (email marketing) content and preparing campaigns for the marketing team to distribute
* Collaborate with team members to support in brainstorming ideas for campaigns and content
* Support with the creation and publishing of short-form video content for TikTok and Instagram Reels, requiring basic editing using tools like CapCut
* Write engaging copy for email campaigns, social media posts, blogs, media releases as needed
Essential:
* Professional presentation, confidence and positive behaviour always
* A proactive, can-do attitude with a willingness to support a range of marketing tasks as needed
* Proficiency in MS Office. Familiarity with HubSpot, Canva, CapCut and WordPress and social platforms including Meta, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok or willingness learn and use a range of tools and platforms is preferred
* Currently studying marketing or possessing a foundational understanding of marketing principles and practices with an interest in entering or the desire to return to the marketing industry
* Tech-savy with confidence in using digital tools and social media platforms
* Strong communication skills and attention to detail
* Ability to follow brand tone of voice and guidelines
* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, while taking on tasks as directed by the Marketing Manager as required
* Desire to gain experience within the marketing industry and professional team environment
Desirable:
* Previous experience using platforms and tools including HubSpot, Canva, CapCut, and social channels including LinkedIn, Meta, Instagram and TikTok.
* Some prior experience in a marketing or communications internship or support role
* Ability to take direction, interpret instructions clearly and work collaboratively within a team environment
* Previous exposure or familiarity with Kokoda Challenge or Kokoda Youth Foundation events and programs
* Experience working in a team and exposure to professional environment
* Self-sufficient and able to learn quickly, requiring minimal supervision once briefed
