We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter Machinist / Toolmaker to join our metal fabrication team. This hands-on role involves interpreting engineering drawings, operating machining tools, assembling metal parts, and maintaining precision equipment and tools. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
* Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
* Fabricate, modify, and assemble components to precise tolerances.
* Manufacture and repair tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for production.
* Conduct measurements and inspections to ensure parts meet required specifications.
* Perform fitting and machining of mechanical components for plant equipment or custom fabrication jobs.
* Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair workshop equipment and machinery.
* Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and production staff to meet project timelines.
* Follow all WHS/OHS regulations and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
Requirements:
* Trade qualification in Fitting & Machining, Toolmaking, or related discipline (Certificate III or IV).
* Proven experience in a toolroom, workshop, or metal fabrication environment.
* Proficiency with precision measurement instruments .
* Sound knowledge of metals and machining processes.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
* Experience in forging, will be a bonus.
