About the role
We're seeking an experienced and proactive Power BI Developer to join our team based in Stapylton, QLD, on a 6-month contract.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Financial Planning and Analysis, this role is critical to delivering intuitive, insightful reporting solutions and supporting finance stakeholders in their journey to timely, accurate and insightful data.
In this hands-on position, you'll:
* Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models to support financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis.
* Partner with finance stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
* Act as a Power BI subject matter expert, guiding best practices for report creation, data visualisation, and performance optimisation.
* Train and mentor finance team members in Power BI usage, including report and dashboard creation, ad hoc analysis, and result interpretation.
* Develop and deliver training materials, workshops, and documentation to support finance users.
* Collaborate with data engineers to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable data delivery from various back-end systems.
* Create and maintain reusable DAX measures, templates, and shared datasets for consistency and efficiency.
* Support data governance, data quality validation, and performance tuning activities.
About you
You'll bring:
* Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
* 3+ years of experience in Power BI development, with a proven ability to build complex, interactive dashboards and data models.
* Solid understanding of financial concepts such as income statements, balance sheets, variance analysis, and financial KPIs.
* Proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and SQL for report development.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in training non-technical users and presenting complex data clearly.
* Experience with data warehouses and ETL processes, including dimensional modelling (Star/Snowflake schemas) (preferred).
* Experience with ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar platforms (preferred).
* Familiarity with Azure Data Services or other BI ecosystems (preferred).
* Background in data governance, access control, and report lifecycle management (preferred).
* Experience supporting a self-service BI model in a mid-to-large organisation (preferred).
