Description
Create your best future and join Consumer as a Senior Business Analyst – Payments Scheme Compliance, Consumer
What's the role?
You'll play a critical role in delivering payments scheme compliance initiatives across the Consumer portfolio. As a Senior Business Analyst, you'll work at the intersection of schemes, technology, and business, helping translate complex scheme documentation into clear, actionable requirements that align with Westpac's architecture and capabilities.
This is a hands‑on role for a Senior BA with deep experience across card payments and scheme compliance. You'll partner closely with Product Owners, architects, engineers, and external scheme stakeholders to ensure scheme changes are interpreted correctly and delivered end to end. This is a full‑time role based in Sydney, working within a collaborative delivery environment.
What do I need?
* Extensive experience as a Senior Business Analyst within Financial Services, with a strong focus on card payments and scheme compliance.
* Proven experience working on Mastercard, Visa and/or EFTPOS scheme compliance or scheme‑driven change initiatives.
* Strong ability to interpret scheme technical documentation, understand required technical outcomes, and translate these into business requirements.
* End‑to‑end understanding of the card payments ecosystem, including POS/ATM, Acquirer, Scheme, Issuer, and Card and Token Service Providers.
* Hands‑on experience with authorisation and clearing flows, including data field‑level understanding.
* Working knowledge of key payments standards and concepts such as EMV, 3DS, ISO8583 / AS2805, digital wallets, tokenisation, devices, and key management.
* Demonstrated experience working closely with technology teams, architects, and Product Owners to shape requirements across both Agile and Waterfall delivery.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to challenge, clarify, and guide outcomes based on technical and domain expertise.
