WSP's Power & Energy team works alongside clients to tackle some of the most complex challenges shaping the global energy transition. Our expertise spans renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and alternative storage technologies, modern thermal generation, and transmission and distribution—delivering efficient, reliable and resilient solutions across Australia and internationally.

Join Our Generation & New Energy Team

As part of WSP's Power & Energy team, you'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of power and energy projects across steam cycle, gas, diesel, waste‐to‐energy, geothermal and waste heat recovery, as well as hydropower, hydrogen and advanced energy storage solutions including compressed air and thermal storage.

You'll play a key role in the design and delivery of power generation projects within our Generation and New Energy team, working across thermal and renewable technologies to develop practical, future‐focused solutions that support the energy transition.

This role can be based in Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney, with established Power & Energy teams across QLD, NSW, VIC, SA and beyond.

What You'll Do

* Work within a dedicated national team to undertake a broad range of power generation engineering & power advisory projects.
* Undertake and own business development activities and outcomes with the support of the broader team.
* Ability to think laterally and pursue opportunities independently and proactively with a consultant's mindset.
* Grow the company's capability to deliver projects in innovative generation technologies.
* Develop new, maintain and nurture client relationships.
* Exhibit and promote a positive health, safety, environment and quality culture.
* Leading and delivering technical outcomes for generation projects new and currently under development.
* Provision of technical and commercial (CAPEX & OPEX development) advisory for new build / refurbishment / operation / asset management for power generation facilities.
* Ensuring engineering outcomes meet client needs, regulatory requirements, quality and purpose within allocated project budgets.
* Monitor and manage multi-disciplinary projects, applying business systems and processes.
* Inspection, supervision and reporting site-based activities including during construction and commissioning.
* Performance of computer modelling (predominantly thermodynamic), independent calculation, layout development, redline drafting and desk top reviews.

About You

* Proven experience in thermal power generation (typically 7–15 years, with a minimum of 5 years required).
* Experience in a consultancy or within power generation environment preferred.
* Bachelor's level degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Chartered engineering status and/or state-based registration qualification (RPEQ, RPEV) preferred.
* Experience in managing multiple engineering projects of varying complexity and size.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work virtually and face-to-face within a team environment.
* Exhibits high degree of accountability and ownership.
* Ability to manage self and undertake / manage multiple tasks concurrently.
* Established Australian networks within the power generation industry.
* Ability to lead and deliver projects, while liaising with internal teams and clients.
* Ability to lead and develop strategic outcomes
* Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations applicable to this field.
* Open to and actions feedback promptly.
* Flexibility to meet project and client outcomes
* Comfortable managing competing priorities and working under pressure
* Strong understanding of power generation plant design, operation and infrastructure. Gas turbine project experience extremely beneficial.
