The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project – Victoria's biggest road project. The project will deliver twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges as part of a Public Private Partnership, connecting the M80 Ring Road to the upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing congestion for up to 135,000 vehicles a day.
About the Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer (MEI) to oversee electrical aspects of the North East Link project, from planning and procurement through construction, commissioning, and handover of high voltage, low voltage, lighting, communication, fibre and electrical systems. The role requires technical expertise, project‑management skills and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to all project phases, including planning, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover of electrical systems.
Review design documents, perform constructability and commissioning reviews, and ensure compliance with codes, standards and regulations.
Develop construction and commissioning work packs, manage subcontractor budgets, and coordinate internal teams, subcontractors and stakeholders.
Conduct quality assurance inspections and prepare documentation to demonstrate regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in infrastructure or construction.
Proven delivery experience on large‑scale infrastructure projects (>$50 M).
Proficiency with CAD software and other engineering tools.
Strong project‑management skills, including prioritisation and deadline management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards and regulations.
