Overview
Our client is a leading distributor of professional audio, visual, broadcast, musical instrument and communication solutions throughout Australia and New Zealand. We are seeking an experienced and hands‐on Leading Hand (Despatch) to join their Supply Chain team and play a key role in ensuring the efficient and accurate delivery of customer orders.
Key Responsibilities
Despatch Operations
* Manage daily outbound warehouse operations in line with company standards and procedures.
* Ensure all customer orders received prior to 2:30 pm are despatched on the same day.
* Prioritise and allocate work to the despatch team throughout the day.
* Release orders and manage workflow to meet service level agreements and delivery deadlines.
* Ensure all EDI scan-pack orders are processed and released within required delivery windows.
* Identify and elevate issues impacting order fulfilment, including stock discrepancies, staffing or system issues.
* Ensure all urgent and must go today orders are shipped on time.
Team Leadership
* Supervise, mentor and support 8 to 10 warehouse staff, including temporary and casual employees.
* Monitor team performance and provide ongoing coaching to drive productivity and accuracy.
* Foster a positive team environment focused on safety, accountability and exceptional customer service.
Inventory & Warehouse Management
* Participate in cycle counts and stocktakes to maintain inventory accuracy.
* Maintain warehouse housekeeping standards and ensure work areas remain safe and organised.
* Monitor warehouse equipment and report any maintenance or damage issues.
* Assist with the ongoing upkeep and optimisation of the PRONTO Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Reporting & Compliance
* Prepare and distribute daily End of Shift reports.
* Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
* Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, reporting incidents, hazards and near misses in a timely manner.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics or despatch leadership role.
* Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control and order fulfilment processes.
* Experience supervising and motivating warehouse teams.
* Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
* High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
* Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems or inventory software.
* Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
* Forklift licence (high reach preferred).
* Commitment to workplace health and safety.
