We're looking for a visionary R&D Director to lead and inspire our dynamic teams, driving the development of TechnologyOne's Human Resource ERP software. This is a role for a proven leader who thrives on delivering scalable, high-quality software, shaping and executing technical strategy, and building high-performing teams that consistently create real value for customers.
You'll play a central role in defining the future of our platform, championing innovation, fostering a culture of excellence, and ensuring our products continue to meet the evolving needs of organisations around the world.
What you'll be doing:
* Lead and mentor several R&D teams - Architects & Developers, to deliver roadmap milestones on time and to budget at the required quality level for product releases
* Drive technical excellence, ensuring architectural integrity, scalability, and high software quality. Including but not limited to architecture, security, programming and quality management
* Continuously develop and enhance industry knowledge to provide insights and thought leadership around software concepts and configuration
* Utilise input from customers, market research, technological advancements and trends to understand customer needs to be able to provide meaningful and innovative input to the Product Roadmap
* Define and execute strategic plans that align with company goals, balancing immediate deliverables with long-term innovation.
* Champion a customer-centric mindset, ensuring our products deliver real value and an exceptional user experience.
* Establish and continuously improve engineering processes, tools, and metrics to enhance productivity and delivery efficiency.
* Work closely with the Product Success Director, POs and Product Success team to ensure software delivered aligns to the business case and to facilitate required Development Methodology activities
* Optimise management of resources and reduce duplication in line with deliverable priorities, time frames, cost, people and skills needed.
* Develop talent plans to grow and scale the team, including hiring, succession planning, and ongoing capability development.
What you bring:
* Proven leadership in R&D or engineering within a software product environment, ideally with experience in HR or enterprise software.
* Strong technical background in architecture, design, and development of complex, scalable applications.
* Ability to inspire and mentor teams, influence stakeholders across all levels, and navigate complex challenges with confidence.
* Experience translating strategic vision into clear, actionable plans that deliver measurable results.
* A track record of driving operational excellence, improving processes, and implementing best practices that enhance productivity and quality.
* Hands‐on experience with HR or ERP software, understanding the unique challenges and opportunities in this space (Highly Regarded)
