Account Manager – Metcash
Location: Hoppers Crossing, Victoria, Australia.
Metcash, Australia's leading wholesale distribution company, hires an Account Manager for its Food team to manage independent retail accounts, drive sustainable growth, and deliver commercial outcomes.
Responsibilities
Own and manage a defined portfolio of customer accounts
Lead customer relationships and act as the first point of contact
Develop and execute Joint Business Plans (JBPs) aligned to customer and Metcash strategies
Drive commercial outcomes including profitability, merchandising, and campaign execution
Provide advisory support across store operations (e.g., P&L, labour, replenishment)
Ensure compliance with legislation, Grocery Code of Conduct, and Channel Standards
Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver initiatives and operational excellence
Support execution of programs and initiatives across the retailer network
Attend and contribute to seasonal events such as Expo and Easter
Qualifications
Proven experience in account management, business development, or sales
Experience working with multi-site or franchise retailers
Strong commercial acumen and understanding of margin, pricing, and profitability
Knowledge of retail operations and store economics (e.g., CODB, compliance)
Strategic relationship management and influencing skills
Ability to translate insights into actionable strategies
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
A collaborative, proactive, and customer-focused mindset
