* Casual – multiple opportunities, no guaranteed hours per week
* Casual rates apply depending on experience ($46.35 to $50.76) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and casual loading
* Based in the Katoomba


About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is offering a unique opportunity for two casual Discovery Rangers to join the Blue Mountains team. In this role, you'll create and lead interactive programs that connect people with the unique natural and cultural heritage of New South Wales.

As a Discovery Ranger, you will design and deliver engaging experiences across a variety of outdoor locations, fostering awareness, appreciation, and understanding of our environment and heritage. The role is focused on interpretive and educational guiding, delivering in‑school experiences along with developing programs and resources. There are opportunities for ongoing training and development.


About You

* Strong communication skills are paramount to the success of this role.
* You will be contributing to the development of programs along with delivering programs to different stakeholders. You will need to be able to respond to various questions and situations.
* Self‑management is important for this role as there may be times you will be working unsupervised, or as part of a team.
* Ensure safety is a priority, meeting the required Work Health Safety standards.
* Experience in teaching and environmental education and or outdoor Leadership will be highly valued.
* Demonstrated passion for history, geography, science, environmental management and the Australian environment and awareness of NPWS values.
* You will need strong digital skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as confidence in using online platforms and tools.


Essential Requirements –

* A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) is an essential requirement for this role. The role has been identified as requiring this check in line with the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012.
* First Aid Certificate and Current Australian Drivers Licence, or willingness to obtain.
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including week‑days, weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
* Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering interpretative guiding and/or educational programs to students or groups.
* Awareness of Aboriginal culture and broad knowledge of the natural and cultural heritage values of the local area.
* Sound understanding of Risk Management, Minimal Impact and Bush Safety principles in relation to guided tours in a cultural or field setting.
