Hay Press Plant Operator
Location: Northam, WA
Employment Type: Fulltime (minimum 38hrs per week)
Pay Rate: $39 to $42 per hour (dependant on experience)
About the Company:
Bodiam warehouses, processes and markets premium hay and straw for export to Asia and other destinations Our processing plant is situated in Northam, in the West Australian wheatbelt, 100 kms east of Perth and has been operating since 1987.
The Role:
The Hay Press Plant Operator operates under the guidance and supervision of the Site Manager.
The role requires the following duties to be carried out on a day-to-day basis:
* Operation of large-scale stationary hay compression machinery, including Unitised and Mainline Press strapping systems.
* Adjusting automated control systems (HMI interfaces) and performing manual adjustments based on hay grade and product variations.
* Routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication and minor repairs.
* Troubleshooting technical issues to maintain continuity of production.
* Proactive in ensuring safe and efficient operations.
* Participate in workflow and actively contribute to meet production targets.
* Participate in pre-start meetings and promoting a strong safety culture.
This comprehensive role also includes other duties where required to maintain continuity of production.
The Applicant:
Essential criteria for this role include:
* Minimum 1 year relevant work experience.
* Experience operating fixed plant equipment in an industrial setting.
* Technical proficiency with automated control systems (HMI).
* Mechanical aptitude for minor repairs and preventative maintenance.
* Strong leadership and organisational skills.
* High-risk license (LF).
* Ability to conduct team meetings and enforce safety standards.
Desirable criteria for this role include:
* Electrical or PLC experience (Mitsubishi or similar) – not essential but highly regarded.
* Formal training in safety systems operation.
* Relevant qualification - minimum Certificate II.

Our business operates seven days per week, 24/7 with rotating rostered shifts averaging 12 hours.
