Medical Scientist – Microbiology – Full Time

The Role
We are currently seeking a full-time Medical Scientist to work in our Microbiology Department at our Osborne Park Laboratory.
The main focus of this position is the reading, interpretation and reporting of bacterial cultures from samples submitted for microbiological analysis.
Essential requirements for this role
Available for weekday, weekend and public holiday shifts, including evenings and on call.
Hold an AIMS accredited Medical Laboratory Science degree, or a relevant qualification and AIMS membership, or an overseas qualification which has been assessed by AIMS as being equivalent.
Demonstrated experience with automated identification and susceptibility testing instrumentation.
Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and within a small team with a high degree of accuracy and precision.
Demonstrated experience with Laboratory information systems and other laboratory software.
Highly desirable
Minimum of two years previous experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory as a scientist with the ability to read human pathology media plates.
This successful scientist will be part of a scientific team that covers the operational hours of our Microbiology Department from 7am - 6pm Monday to Sunday.
You will be required to work 10 x 7.6-hour shifts per fortnight and participate in the public holiday and on-call roster. Some participation to provide Annual Leave cover for evening shift staff (Monday - Friday 4pm – midnight, and Sundays 12pm – 8pm) may rarely be required.
