Home Tutor / Governess
We are seeking a motivated, organised and enthusiastic Home Tutor / Governess to join our family on a remote cattle station in the Northern Territory. The role involves supporting three children (Yr 5, Yr 3, Yr 1) with their daily online learning through the Alice Springs School of the Air while becoming part of station life and the wider family environment.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, rural living, and being part of a close-knit station community. The successful applicant will play an important role in creating a positive, structured and engaging learning environment for the children.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and assist three children with their daily online lessons and schoolwork
* Work alongside teachers from the Alice Springs School of the Air to support lesson delivery and learning outcomes
* Help maintain a structured daily routine and positive learning environment
* Assist children with reading, writing, mathematics and general learning activities
* Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
* Organise educational, creative and outdoor activities
* Prepare learning materials and maintain an organised classroom/schoolroom
* Communicate regularly with parents regarding children's progress and daily activities
* Participate in station and family life where appropriate
Skills & Experience
* Experience working with children or in education, childcare or tutoring preferred
* A positive, patient and energetic attitude
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Ability to work independently and adapt to remote living
* Confidence using computers and online learning platforms
* Current driver's licence preferred
* First Aid Certificate desirable
* Teaching, education or childcare qualifications are advantageous but not essential
