About the role

The Linux & Data Lead will establish, ensure, and maintain the ongoing operational excellence of our internally managed databases, server, and storage environment with a focus on resilience, reliability, recoverability, and security.

Key Accountabilities

• Design and implement solutions across Linux, database, backup, and storage platforms.
• Manage system performance in various environments including production and disaster recovery.
• Develop and enforce IT policies and standards.
• Provide infrastructure support and manage incident resolutions.
• Develop and test disaster recovery solutions.
• Monitor system performance and capacity management.
• Develop Linux administration standards.
• Manage and resolve Linux system issues.
• Provide out-of-hours support as part of a 24x7 rotating roster.
• Manage and oversee a team of Linux and Database administrators.
• Document processes for service continuity.
• Support the Infrastructure Manager in operational management.
• Oversee team operations and performance.
• Facilitate team development and training.
• Ensure team compliance with company standards and IT policies.
• Manage resource allocation and project involvement.
• Act as a point of escalation for team-related issues.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• 5 plus years of operational experience in enterprise-class Linux administration.
• Proficiency in scripting (shell, Perl, Python) and automation technologies (puppet, ansible).
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of virtualisation (including open source & VMWare), hardware, backup, and storage.
• Experience with Oracle systems including Exadata and Oracle Cloud highly desirable.
• Management of enterprise backup using Veritas NetBackup with NetBackup appliances.
• Expertise in Linux operating systems including deployment and automation.
