Overview
Step into a genuinely varied and impactful role where you'll lead capital and sustaining projects that directly improve safety, reliability and plant performance at Cowal Gold Operations. As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll own projects from initial design through to execution—ensuring delivery that is safe, compliant, on schedule and within budget.
This role goes far beyond routine maintenance: you'll work across the full engineering lifecycle, influence major infrastructure decisions, and collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, metallurgy, and reliability teams.
Responsibilities
* Deliver new site infrastructure and plant upgrades (e.g., pump stations).
* Lead steelwork repairs, equipment refurbishments and improvement projects.
* Manage consultants, contractors and detailed design activities.
* Prepare conceptual designs, feasibility studies, business cases and estimates.
* Develop scopes of work, project schedules and support shutdown planning.
* Conduct risk assessments, audits and drive regulatory compliance.
* Maintain accurate engineering documentation and drawings.
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, high‐performance team.
About You
You're a degree‐qualified Mechanical Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, delivering practical solutions, and seeing your work translate into real value on site. You thrive in environments where no two days look the same.
You will bring
* A Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent).
* Experience delivering projects in mining, heavy industry, or a similar environment (5+ years ideal).
* Demonstrated capability managing projects from design through to execution.
* Strong planning, scheduling, cost control and contractor management skills.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Project and MS Office; AutoCAD and Bluebeam desirable.
* Working knowledge of Australian Standards and engineering documentation practices.
* Eligibility or interest in National Engineering Registration/Chartered status (preferred).
