OverviewTaronga Zoo Sydney is looking for an experienced and motivated Water Systems Operator to join our Asset Management team.
This is a Full Time - ongoing position located at Sydney's Iconic Taronga Zoo
About the RoleThe Water Systems Operator will provide a broad range of skills across the water systems for cyclic maintenance, restoration, repairs and ensure water quality is maintained at the acceptable standards.
The role is Full Time Water Systems Technician/Operator, working across the zoo and on exhibits with wildlife.ResponsibilitiesPerform all types of duties associated with water systems maintenance, including water quality testing and recording, commissioning restoration repairs, general housekeeping and construction work on site.Develop skills in operation of water and/or sewerage treatment and reticulation systems in a safe manner.Monitor operation of all water systems to ensure appropriate disinfection and water quality in line with relevant standards and requirements.Adhere to works requisition system and follow through with projects efficiently.Ensure work is completed timely and cost-effectively to prescribed quality standards to meet stakeholder and Taronga's needs.Perform trade and non-trade activities as scheduled by Supervisor, Water Systems.Maintain Taronga tools, vehicles and machinery in safe working condition.Comply with sustainability practices in the workplace to help achieve Taronga's sustainability targets and reduce the environmental impact.About YouWe are looking for candidates that have:Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience in operation of Water Systems related to Water Treatment Plants, Reticulation Systems and Water Treatment Plant processesCertificate III in Water Operations or willingness to completeCurrent NSW Driver's License or valid recognition including manualCurrent vaccinations records for Q Fever, Tetanus, Hepatitis A & B and Tuberculosis screeningWillingness to undergo pre-placement medical examination including Musculoskeletal and Fitness AssessmentOccupational Noise Audiometric Assessment (if identified in noise level reports)Current paid NSW Working with Children CheckBenefitsFlexible Hybrid work model - blend of in-office, remote, and on-the-go workComplimentary passes for family and friends across Taronga's Sydney & Dubbo ZoosFree onsite car parking (outside peak periods)Discounts on accommodation, food and beverage, and Fitness PassportSocial team with regular zoo activitiesPlus moreEqual OpportunityTaronga is an equal opportunity employer and recognises diversity of workforce and community.ApplyingPlease submit your resume and a cover letter of one page.
