About the Role
As a Family Coach, you will provide brief, group-based, and culturally safe support to families experiencing emerging vulnerabilities. A key focus of the role is to establish and facilitate peer support groups for parents, helping them build social connections and mutual support networks.
You will manage a caseload of families requiring short-term or group interventions, supporting parent-child relationships and contributing to case planning and review processes. The role involves assessing family needs, connecting them with relevant services, and offering both practical and emotional support.
This position also includes maintaining accurate case records, participating in collaborative case reviews, and working closely with other professionals and agencies. Ongoing professional development, reflective supervision, and contributing to a positive team culture are essential components of the role.
To be successful in this role you will need:
* Relevant tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, child and family social welfare or related discipline.
* 2 to 5 years' experience and skills in trauma informed practice and family violence, alcohol or other drug and/or mental health within children, youth and family service delivery or similar.
* Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
* Demonstrated personal value set that is aligned with Kids First organisational values and a commitment to professional development.
* Able to work independently, whilst contributing strongly as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
* An understanding of the impact of family violence on families and an ability to apply a gendered family violence lens when working with clients.
