This role forms part of a team delivering services aligned with operational needs through the repair, servicing and maintenance of Council's plant, equipment and vehicle fleet. The position supports the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of Council operations by ensuring fleet assets are maintained to a high standard.
About the role:
* Maintain and repair Council's diverse fleet, including light vehicles, heavy trucks and plant, through scheduled servicing and responsive breakdown support.
* Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults to keep assets safe, compliant and operational.
* Ensure all work meets RMS and ADR requirements, with accurate documentation recorded in Council's asset management system.
* Work collaboratively across Council, promoting safe, efficient and environmentally responsible practices at all worksites.
* Support team capability by assisting with apprentice training and contributing to continuous improvement within the workshop.

We are seeking:
* Trade‐qualified mechanic with a minimum of four years' hands‐on workshop experience, including apprenticeship.
* Proven ability to work independently and as part of a small, customer‐focused team.
* Sound working knowledge of fleet management software, vehicle systems and electronic management systems.
* Strong literacy and numeracy skills to interpret manuals, job instructions and accurately complete records and reports.
* Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and compliance with relevant workplace procedures.
* Current vehicle licence, medium rigid.
