The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an Operations Logistics Officer to join our State Operations team in Sydney on a full-time, 12‑month maximum-term contract (parental leave cover).
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role offers hands-on exposure to vessel operations and logistics within a dynamic, fast‑paced shipping environment.
Due to the nature of vessel operations, flexibility is essential, with some weekend work and hours outside standard office times required.
Key Responsibilities
* Processing transshipment cargo instructions and related data
* Dangerous cargo reporting across imports, transshipment, transit and exports
* Export consolidation activities, including balancing vessel exports and clearing exports with ABF
* Managing SLOT and non‑MSC operating vessels, including cargo and operational requirements
* Supporting empty container logistics, including booking releases, depot redirection and import re‑use
* Handling various cargo instructions, such as overweight containers, transport, unpack and repack requests and client cargo requirements
* Assisting with damaged container and cargo claims
* Monitoring and managing relationships with various suppliers
About You
* Minimum 2 years' experience within the shipping industry, ideally in logistics or cargo operations
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
* The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
* Well‑developed problem‑solving and analytical skills
* The ability to analyse and forecast numerical data
* Flexibility to work outside of standard office hours
* Full Australian Driver's license
